This issue features several articles on different aspects of Brazilian musical culture, addressing topics such as capoeira, samba, carnival, the culture of cocos, and bumba meu boi. This section is complemented by an analysis of fan clubs' projecting the popularity of an artist.
The second section consists of four texts focused on composition. Two of the articles reflect on the practice of contemporary creation. Next, two other texts promote a musicological approach to the field. The first addresses the issue of rhetoric and theology in Bach's music, while the second puts Villa-Lobos's production into perspective. Closing this issue, we have an intriguing interview with Aylton Escobar, one of his generation's most creative Brazilian musicians.
