Introduction of technology in education has become a global trend, with several countries and states adopting measures to modernize teaching and optimize administrative processes. Examples include the use of Artificial Intelligence to produce teaching materials and automate pedagogical practices, such as performance evaluations and activity planning. These technological advances have triggered profound changes in education. These changes face significant challenges, such as data privacy issues, equitable access to technology, and the need for teacher training. Moreover, concerns exist about the narrative of “progress” and its link to economic dynamics, which may obscure the real motivations behind these transformations. This study proposes to discuss these sociotechnical transformations, especially in the face of the growing platformization of education, of the expansion of distance learning and the accelerated development of AI tools. It also emphasizes the importance of strict regulations and adequate investment in infrastructure to guarantee the informational sovereignty of Brazil.
