Abstract

The Austrian poet Paula Ludwig’s life story is a tragical example of an exiled German-speaking author in Brazil. The present article describes the life of this poet who is ultimately destroyed by the loss of her love, Iwan Goll, and especially by the loss of her mother tongue. This article retraces Paula Ludwig’s footsteps around locations, events and publications that played important roles in her life. The main focus here will be the personal experience of an exiled poet who has left an almost forgotten heritage, which perhaps could have been a lot more significant
