For over a century, and funny as it may seem, the different insights and research into The double(1846), both in Russia and in the West, have systematically left aside the urban space where events take place. Even though Fedor Dostoevsky is very accurate in locating each of the events in the plot, Saint Petersburg was merely regarded as a setting for the action.
