This paper discusses the results of a tourism demand research conducted during the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brasilia city, performed between June 10th and July19th, in three main interview points. The survey was conducted by the Federal District Department of Tourism, resulting in a total of 9,728 interviews, of which 6,765 were of domestic visitors and 3,499 of international visitors. Among the main results, this article highlights the profile of visitors, the financial movement exclusively motivated by the mega-event and the average expenditure of these tourists in the Federal Capital. The conclusions are focused on the limitations and shortcomings observed during and after the survey, pointing out possibilities of improvements in similar future initiatives. Some procedures are also strongly recommended to researchers interested in this type of research, both in the planning and in the implementation and analysis stages.Downloads
