Abstract

Objective: This research aimed at systematizing the problems, concepts of Interprofessional Education (IPE) and theoretical references that justified and supported the PET-Saúde Interprofessionalidade projects for the adoption and strengthening of interprofessionality in training and work in health. Method: Documentary research based on the 120 projects approved in the PET-Saúde Interprofessionalidade notice. Data collection was carried out using a previously developed coding structure and data analysis using content techniques. Results: The most cited problem as a justification for strengthening interprofessionality was the lack of formalization of IPE in curricula. Professionals trained separately, prioritizing specific skills and weaknesses in the teaching-service- community articulation were also justifications. The conceptual EIP model that supported the construction of most projects is not clear, compromising sustainable changes. SUS principles, with emphasis on comprehensiveness, discussions regarding teamwork and the framework of popular/dialogical education and continuing health education were theoretical supports used by the projects. Conclusion: The context of training and work in the Brazilian scenario provides important justifications for defending the reorientation of these two fields as a way of ensuring a more comprehensive, safe and health needs-oriented health system.
