Suicide is a public health issue worldwide that has a significant socioeconomic impact. The identification and prevention of suicide attempts are responsibility of all physicians. Therefore, this article aims to clarify aspects regarding suicide risk, including how to assess and how to determine the appropriate course of treatment in each scenario.
