Education and heritage: notes about the dialogue between school and capoeira

Brazilian education has been marked by debates which show a bigger visibility of different ethnic groups and their cultural manifestations, with more emphasis on the afro-Brazilians. In that setting, this essay aims at describing and discussing the introduction of capoeira to the basic education set by the Programa Mais Educação (‘More Education’ Program) of the Ministry of Education. Despite the possibility of using it as a tool to value the afro-Brazilian culture in education, we conclude that the aforementioned Program, by using the educative potential of capoeira, focuses on your documents the modality connected to sport approach of capoeira.##plugins.themes.default.displayStats.downloads##
