Indigenous health in Brazil: current juridical scenery and the challenges to guarantee the right to health of indigenous populations

This article presents how Brazil has organized health care to indigenous people. In Brazil, indigenous people has the right to health assured by the Constitution. In order to accomplish the obligation of treating indigenous people, Brazil has created the Indigenous Health Treatment System. This system is coordinated by the National Health Brazilian Foundation. This article develops some of the main aspects of the structure and actions of the National Health Brazilian Foundation. At the end, there is a discussion of the main obstacles to the accomplishment of indigenous people right to health.Downloads
