Abstract

This article points out affinities between Erich Auerbach and Siegfried Kracauer’s thoughts by discussing recurring methodological procedures and critical issues. The focus is on nuances and implications of their aesthetic realism conceptions and on the relevance of their works for the theoretical debate and for the exercise of literary criticism nowadays.
