Abstract

The essay questions the “genealogical” tendency established nowadays in the speeches on the Brazilian art in the field of the “authors´ system”, which roots date from middles of the 70ies, and proposes the recovering of the historical analysis and reflection. It debates the transition of the geometrical
abstraction after 1964, eclipsed by the empowerment of the neoconcret movement as the ground of the Brazilian contemporary art, according to “genealogical interpretations”. On the contrary of these and based on Oiticica and Pedrosa´s arguments, the essay´s thesis is that the formation of the Brazilian visual system, shaped around the geometrical
abstraction during the 50ies, is consolidated in the dialectic overcoming of the geometrical abstraction by the critical and experimental propositions that succeed it. The chronicle of the resistance of the Brazilian art, coming from the military dictatorship to the neoliberals years, follows the thread of the analysis of the objective form (Antonio Candido) of Oiticica and Antonio Dias´ works, the last one up to the 2000 year.
