On The Need for Critical Editions of Portuguese Grammars Published in Brazil
an Auxiliary Work to the History of Linguistic Ideas

The text presents the need to create and develop a Research Niche Area [research line] in critical editions of Grammaticas Portuguezas published in Brazil between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as an aid to the History of Linguistic Ideas and to Brazilian Grammaticography. In this sense, we point out some ways to consolidate the philological task, stricto senso, in the edition of these grammars in our academic scope, which makes the present work a programmatic article. To illustrate, it also brings small examples of works that the editions of texts of some main grammars published in Brazil in the mentioned period.
