Abstract

This article aims to critically analyze the relationship between the dynamics of border fencing, in the context of globalization, and the constitution of a selective mediation regime of (un)desired flows based on the penalization and stigmatization of subaltern mobility. In this context, how the narratives produced in the area of communication dialogue with this process was observed, being able to contribute to the construction and strengthening of imaginaries in which stereotypes and prejudices predominate, or, alternatively, open spaces for the stories of migrants to be known and denounces to be made in cases of xenophobia and violation of human rights. Therefore, we sought to develop a theoretical-analytical approach based on an episode of violence against young migrants sheltered in a Centro de Acogida de Menores, in the Spanish city of El Masnou, which became known to the public from publications in the local press and was analyzed in an episode of the Invisibles Podcast in 2021.
