Author Guidelines

1. Revista EXTRAPRENSA accepts original and unpublished works (of individual or collective authorship). The publication is subject to the evaluation of reviewers and the Editorial Committee. Non-original articles, that is, those that have already been published, will only be accepted in case of exhausted edition or translation into a language other than the original. Papers signed by doctors with sole authorship or co-authorship will be accepted. In the case of masters, masters and doctoral students, the works must necessarily be signed in co-authorship with a doctor (a).

2. CRITERIA FOR PUBLICATION

a) All works received undergo prior analysis by the Editorial Committee, to assess the relevance of the submission, regarding the scope and norms of the journal. The works then approved are sent, in a blind evaluation system (without reference to authorship), for evaluation by reviewers, members of the Scientific Council or ad hoc reviewers. In possession of the opinions, the article is evaluated by the Editorial Committee. Then, an acceptance, modification or refusal response is sent to the author. Modifications for a new presentation will be subject to the same article submission process.

b) As a rule, after publishing a text in the magazine EXTRAPRENSA, the author must observe a period of two years before a new submission. Exceptional cases (reviews or replies, for example) will be analyzed by the magazine's Editorial Committee.

c) The opinions expressed in the articles are the responsibility of the authors.

d) The submission of originals implies the acceptance that, in case of publication, the author assigns their copyright to the magazine (in all media).

e) Submissions in Portuguese must comply with the New Orthographic Agreement (Decree No. 6,583).

3. ARTICLES

a) They must be typed in WORD, OpenOffice or RTF format, with page in A4 format, in Times New Roman font, size 12, with 1.5 leading, without justification at the end. Citations and references must be prepared following the standards of ABNT NBR 6029 (check out: www.abnt.org.br - technical standard for book presentation).
b) They should be 15 to 20 pages long, for essays and critical-analytical articles.
c) They must present a title, respecting the limit of 74 characters with space for each one.
d) All articles submitted must end with an academic biography of the author in three lines, typed in body 10.

3.1. ABSTRACTS

a) They should have 5 to 10 lines with a maximum of 1000 characters (including spaces) and 3 to 5 keywords, typed in body 10. Translate the abstract into Spanish (Castellan) and English: the abstract and the resumen must respect the maximum limit of 1000 characters with spaces of 3 to 5 words and keywords. It is mandatory to send the abstract translated into Spanish (resumen) and English (abstract).

4. REVIEWS

a) They must have their own title, (in Portuguese and in English, respecting the limit of 42 characters with space for each one), different from the title of the reviewed work, followed by the abstract with keywords, abstract and keywords. The title must include the complete references of the work being reviewed. The review should extend from 3 to 5 pages.

5. INTERVIEWS

5.1 Presentation format of the interviews

The interviews should be conducted in textual format and it will be necessary to consider the following aspects:

Size: must consist of 4 to 10 questions and the text must contain a maximum of 15 pages;

Language: can be sent in Portuguese, English or Spanish;

Image: must be accompanied by the interviewee's photo, which must be sent in an attached file, jpg or gif, with good resolution, above 100 KB, and with prior authorization from the interviewee. If this is of interest, an image can also be included to complement the content of the interview;

Data on the interviewee: brief text with data on the interviewee, containing information about the curriculum, including the institution to which he is affiliated, summarized scientific production, academic training, others;

Abstracts: the interviews must be accompanied by summaries in the three languages ​​of the magazine, which consists of a short text that provides the reader with basic information on the topic and must contain information that answers the following questions: “What” and / or “Who ? ”,“ When? ”,“ Where? ”,“ How? ”, And“ Why? ”;

Presentation format: the presentation of the interview must comply with the standards defined in item 3 of this document (except for item b). Contributions outside the defined standards will be returned to the respective authors.

5.2 Authorship considerations

Texts can be prepared by the authors of the research, the journal editor or the editorial team. If the editorial team has the support of a communication professional, texts can be prepared by the team and sent to the authors for approval.

6. RESEARCH REPORT

The research report should be structured as follows:

Abstract: concise presentation of the text in the three languages ​​of the journal, highlighting purposes, hypotheses or problems, research design, main observations, and conclusions.

Introduction: demonstrate the clear need for research, its importance and relevance to the area; describe the objectives of the study; explain the origins of the hypotheses and describe the research hypotheses or questions to be answered.

Method: enable the reader to evaluate the research design; describe the materials and the subjects; describe the sample size and how it was determined; operationally define the hypothesis variables; select appropriate methods to allow duplication of work by others.

Results: present clear and organized descriptions of all the researched data: significant and non-significant, positive and negative; answer all the research questions formulated; illustrate, when possible, complex data with tables and figures.

Discussion: presenting and interpreting conclusions; emphasize important findings; when possible, compare and contrast with previous related work.


7. ILLUSTRATIONS AND IMAGES


a) The reproduction of illustrations is the sole responsibility of the author. The images must be recorded in TIF or EPS format, with a minimum of 300 DPI. For videos to be inserted in the digital edition, they must be on a platform on the internet.

8. TABLES

They must be inserted in the body of the text. They should not be inserted, as attachments, at the end of the document.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission contribution is Open Access and will not be charged by any Article Processing System (APC), as well it will adopt the "Non-Commercial (NC)" and "Author Attribution", according with Creative Commons licensing.

Articles

This section is intended for senior researchers who want to publish their unedited material that concerns communication, culture and countries' integration from Latin America. The essays must be 14-21 thousand  text characters (including blank spaces), with a Title in a mother tongue (english, portuguese or spanish); abstract (Essay's general ideas) in english, portuguese (resumo) and spanish (resumen), having 3-5 key words, both in english, portuguese and spanish; author's mini-curriculum (having 280 text characters). The entire text must be in either english, portuguese or spanish. Bibliography must meet the Chicago (International) or ABNT (Brazilian) standards. Citations must be given in the whole text between parentesis or by the Writer/Word footnotes system. Article's items must be numbered in sequent arabic numerals. Your text must be saved in RTF format (Rich Text Format) or in DOC format (Word 97/2003) only. Tables and graphics must be atacched under the text file or separatted and sent with indications in the text about their location, using numeric cypher (i.e.: table 1, table 2, graphic 1, graphic 2). Valid image formats: GIF or JPEG. Although, only unedited essays will be published

  • Bibliography references must meet the technical requirements for book publications (Chicago or ABNT's NBR 6029);
  • Footnotes: Even though the North American's citation standard is accepted, we would prefer the European citation standard which mentions the entire author's name, the writing title and pages referred;
  • Images & Illustrations: will only be included in the main text and referred to in the pages' number counting, thus following the publications rule from Chicago or ABNT;
  • The confirmation of the publishing of the essays will be sent to the author(s) by e-mail only;
  • Valid text file formats: "Word 97/2003" (.DOC) and "Rich Text" (.RTF) only; Tables: attached in "Word 97/2003" (.DOC), Rich Text (.RTF) or separated in "Excel 97/2003" (.XLS) format; Images: only in JPEG (.jpg) or Static GIF formats.

Research Report

Destinado a pesquisadores que queiram socializar resultados de pesquisa realizada com ou sem financiamento. Estes textos devem ter de 10 mil a 14 mil caracteres (incluindo espaços) contendo: título em idioma vernáculo (português, espanhol ou inglês); resumo em português, espanhol (resumen) e inglês (abstract), com três a cinco palavras-chave em português, espanhol e inglês; minicurrículo do (a)(s) autor(a)(es) com até 280 caracteres, corpo do texto (em português, espanhol ou inglês) e bibliografia nas normas da ABNT. As citações devem ser feitas no corpo do texto entre parênteses ou através da referência automática do Word ou Writer. Os itens do artigo devem ser numerados em algarismo arábico de forma sequencial. Os textos devem ser enviados em cópia eletrônica gravados em arquivo no formato RTF (Rich Text
Format) ou em formato DOC (Word 97/2003). Tabelas e gráficos devem ser inclusas no arquivo de texto ou enviados em arquivos à parte, com indicativos no corpo do texto sobre sua localização com forma numérica (ex.: tabela 1, tabela 2, gráfico 1, gráfico 2). Arquivos de imagem aceitos: formato GIF ou JPEG.

  • As referências bibliográficas devem obedecer às normas Técnicas para apresentação de livros (NBR 6029) da ABNT;
  • Para as referências no corpo do texto, embora seja aceito o padrão norte americano de referências (ao longo do texto, citando o autor, ano da obra e página) privilegia-se o padrão europeu que utiliza notas de rodapé com o nome completo do autor, nome da obra e página;
  • Figuras ou ilustrações são aceitas no corpo do texto e inclusas na contagem das páginas, devendo sua apresentação seguir também as normas da ABNT;
  • As confirmações de aceitação do trabalho serão enviadas  exclusivamente por email;
  • Os trabalhos desta seção devem trazer, preferencialmente, o nome e o minicurrículo do orientador da pesquisa relatada
  • Formatos válidos de arquivos eletrônicos: "Word 97/2003" (.DOC) e "Rich Text" (.RTF); Tabelas em "Word 97/2003" (.DOC), Rich Text (.RTF) e "Excel 97/2003" (.XLS); Ilustrações apenas em JPEG (.jpg) ou GIF Estático (.gif).

Reviews

Comentários de obras recentemente lançadas na área de comunicação e cultura. Estes textos devem ter de 7 mil a 10 mil caracteres incluindo espaços contendo: título em idioma vernáculo (português, espanhol ou inglês), nome da obra resenhada e demais referências (autor(es), editora, ano da publicação), minicurrículo resumido do(a)(s) autor(a)(es) da resenha de até 280 caracteres, corpo do texto e bibliografia nas normas da ABNT em português e espanhol ou Normas de Chicago (inglês ou espanhol).

  • As referências bibliográficas devem obedecer às normas Técnicas para apresentação de livros (NBR 6029) da ABNT;
