Published in France in March 2021, Soi-même comme un roi: essai sur les dérives identitaires arrives in Brazil, translated into Portuguese as "O eu soberano: ensaio sobre as derivas identitárias", the new book by Elisabeth Roudinesco. It is a question that has been raised by some post-colonial or decolonial trends in Brazilian literature as well, denying the possibility of understanding anything that is not the "I". If we start from such a questioning, the reading of Elisabeth Roudinesco, a white French woman, becomes biased from the start, marked by the colonialism intrinsic to Europeans, making impossible fertile debates that could arise from reading the 304 pages in which she discusses, with a broad bibliographical base, about gender, race, post-colonialities, intersectionality and left and right identity movements.
