Abstract

The proposal of this article is to analyze suicide among the set of human actions and, as so, recognize it as a consequence of deliberation and as an action among the human ethics spectrum, through the categories of Heidegger’s care (Sorge) and Aristotle’s recognition (anagnórisis), which are, in our view, both hermeneutic and ontological, and essential for the field of Narrative Medicine. Through these categories, we will analyze suicide whether being or not a phenomenon of the split of being. The paradigmatic figures of some Greek heroes, particularly Ajax and Oedipus, and the repercussion of these myths in our current conceptions about suicide will help us in this task.
