This article proposes a recovery of elements from the literary text method used in stylistics as an instrument to teach poetry to the reader in training. The starting point was, above all, the formulations and analyses undertaken by the most prominent critic of stylistics, Leo Spitzer. There is also the contribution of Brazilian critics and we discuss the limits found in any method, particularly when used in a mechanical way. We also reflect on the need to associate the method to a more dialogic perspective of literature teaching. Finally, through a poem, we show how to proceed in the classroom to stimulate the discovery of the poem meanings as perceived by the reader through a shared reading.Downloads
