Abstract

This interdisciplinary article analyzes the sonnet “Voyelles”, from the symbolist poet Arthur Rimbaud, trying to show how he works with the so-called “colored hearing”, looking to merge the sound to color. As can be seen by the text, assigning arbitrarily colors to the vowels, the poet will awake new sensations and create hallucinatory images. This makes this poem as a unique and very personal and subjective experience.
