This article presents a perspective on Camões’ imitation, from the standpoint of the imitation as normative practice to poetry writing in the XVI century. We compare some of Camões’ poems that seem to offer a good view on the variety of procedures which he employed in this process, aiming to grasp the argumentative reestructuring thus imposed on the imitated model-text. As an annex, we provide a more comprehensive list of possibly related texts, largely based on Faria e Sousa's comments and 20th century critics.
