Abstract

Starting from the recurrence of women protagonists in Lars von Trier’s filmography, this article tries to analyze the possible meanings of the characters and the narratives. From the presence of the Medeia’s myth, passing through the re-readings of the sacrifice’s notion, to the moment when the female character incarnates the allegory of the human adventure facing the failure of utopias, the Other assumes the homo faber’s condition.
