This article is about interrelations involving agents in tourist areas. The main inspiration comes from the current debate on clusters of economic activities, in which co-operation and sense of collective action among actors are seen as highly important. The article looks at a specific tourist destination, Florianópolis, Brazil, and is organized as follows: first, the growth of the area's tourism is pointed out; second, some local initiatives of collective nature are identified; next, the problems of governance relating to the tourist sector are stressed; finally, need of care about tourism sustainability in Florianópolis is indicated as urgent.Downloads
