This article aims to analyze and discuss the conceptual and methodological approaches of the main indicators used in the literature to evaluate and monitor landscape quality. In this research, the economic indicators of landscape in the context of sustainable tourism development are highlighted. Tourist activity is one of the most important industries in the world, and it plays fundamental role in the development of many regions. It is also noted that it has obtained importance in current debates on sustainable development. In this sense, from a methodological point of view, an explanatory and bibliographical research is developed, through review of already published material, and as empirical basis, studies referring to the analysis of tourist landscapes, carried out in Brazil. Conceptual and methodological subsidies for application of economic and visual indicators of landscape in the tourist activity were presented throughout the work. The results observed in the mentioned studies point to the importance of using economic indicators of the landscape in order to mitigate the environmental impacts in these tourist destinations.
