Methodological innovation in the teaching-service integration at the medical education

Medical schools are seeking new scenarios of teaching and learning, taking into account the principles of the Unified Health System (SUS) and the National Curriculum Guidelines. The purpose of this article is to describe the experience of teaching-service integration in medical education, promoted by the adoption of innovative methodological strategies established by discipline Practice Integrated Teaching-Service-Community (ITSC), curriculum content of the Medical School of the Severino Sombra University (USS), in Vassouras, Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. Methodology and results: report of the experience by the visits to the public health units, where the students can observe the diversity of services provided by the Unified Health System (SUS) in the different levels of complexity and their interconnection network - essential for health care of solving. Conclusions: pedagogical innovation allowed the students had view of network services offered by SUS and will be able to build knowledge from the questioning of reality observed on the health care offered to the population.
