In the first part of this review, we present the most proeminent biolofical or nonbiological atmospheric pollution agents of home enviroment. Then, we discuss pathogenic mechanisms of respiratory diseases triggered by there agents. Finally, we show the effect of environmental intervention in the reduction of hoth polluent emission and prevalence of respiratory disease in a highly polluted industrial area close to São Paulo city.
