Abstract

One difficulty of any urban planning is its coordination to each of the small portions of a territory, which in fact define the qualities of space and everyday life. This paper presents a conceptual tool to support such coordination between spatial scales: the identification and study of typical situations (types) of housing and urban environment, arranged in a typology. Prepared for the Master Plan of the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, and starting from the characteristics of this region, the typology takes the autonomy in the production of everyday space as a primary criterion, and aims to embase instruments that may favor this autonomy.
