The texte wants to show the structural composition of Anguish (1936), by Graciliano Ramos, starting from a resorted, obsessed scene. At hte beginning of the novel, the boy Luís da Silva, learns swimming in the well of his grandfather´s farm, with this father submerging and emerging him. This scene is going to be repeated due the novel, sometimes in some of its aspects, sometimes almost in an identical way, always with Luís da Silva´s (already adult) sensation of being drowned, reliving that childhood scene at a time which shows itself circular. The novel has therefore a very closed construction in despite of its loose aspect.Downloads
