Imigração italiana: aspectos gerais do processo imigratório

Abstract

We tried in this communication, toexpose the general lines of the immigratory process in São Paulo (Brazil), since the final decades of the XIXth century until the years 60/70 of this century. We expose some aspects of the italian immigration, in that period, with flashes of what took place in the South of Brazil and in some other countries. We detach specially problems faced by the immigrants; the publicity decurrent of the Prinetti decree, for engagement of rural workers; and the repatriation, between other aspects, that makes posible a better understanding of the development of the immigratory process in São Paulo.
