Abstract

The article centers on a revision of the work of Caio Prado Jr. from the perspective of a brief thematic comparison with the Mexican agrarian experience, in particular during the decades of 1930-1940, when Prado produces some of his fundamental works. Differences and similarities are emphasized regarding the following questions: agrarian reform, the debate over national integration, differential treatment of the problems of "culture" in the rural milieu, and in particular, the "peasant question", its definition and terminology.
