Abstract

In this essay we intend to explore the French and European references, principally in the correspondence between Carlos Dr ummond de A ndrade, Mário de Andrade e Manuel Bandeira, in the 1920s, focusing on the imaginaries concocted with the ideas of “here” (Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, América Latina) and “there” (France, Europe). We will also formulate a hypothesis about “internal” a nd “external” literary cr iticism, involving this correspondence.
