Abstract

Diafanization of the pancreatic duct system in 130 sheep (79 males and 51 females) showed that the chief duct (Wirsung) always proceeds from the union of the left lobe duct with variable number of collectors of the right lobe (three - 35.0%; two - 32.5%; four - 17.5%; five - 5.0%; one - 5.0%; seven - 2.5%). The accessory duct (Santorini) being connected with the chief duct system by its central extremity reaches in 15.0% of the examined glands, the minor duodenal papilla. This papilla is, in average, located at 2.0 cm before the major duodenal papilla. The chief duct (Wirsung) ends in the biliar duct at 4.8 cm, in average, from the major duodenal papilla. These ducts as well as their roots receive a variable number of affluents. It was also observed the presence of some little collectors openning in the biliar duct directly and independently.
