Tests of global counting and diferential of leukocytes were done on 120 Thoroughbred horses. These equines were divided in 2 groups considered winners and losers and separated according to the sexes. Comparisons between males and females, losers and winners were done. The statistic analyses showed:1 — The males do not differ from the females according to the global number of leukocytes for the group of winners and losers.
— The females showed a higher number of leukocytes and a lower number of monocytes than the males of both groups.
— The males showed a higher number of eosinophils than the females only for the loosers.
— The male and female winners do not differ in the global number of the leukocytes.
— The number of monocytes is higher for the winners than for the losers but only for the females the differences are significant.
