Based on anatomical studies, the authors describe some changings for the purpose of furthering the technique of the segmental lumbar epidural anesthesia in cattle. The improved technique has shown that:
1) A single injection (3 to 10 cc) of a 5 per cent procaine hydrochloride solution with renaleptine is effective to produce a complete anesthesia of both flanks, ventral abdominal wall and the udder (except the posterior part). This anesthesia provides excellent operating conditions in all regions concerned.
2) The authors, during or after the anesthesia, have observed no accidents and complications.
