Abstract

The advancement of AI is increasingly reflected in law, in various applications and techniques. In the last ten years, different projects using AI have been institutionalized in the Brazilian judicial system. This article maps the implications of this transformation for legal research. It is argued that although legal AI has great potential, it can also lead to errors and even amplify structural injustices in society. In this context, the article identifies central questions for the discussion of when, how and where it is desirable to use AI for legal research.
