Resumen

This paper purposts to study twenty three archaelogical sites located in the residual upland of the Urucum, near Corumbá, in the Pantanal Sul-Mato-Grossense. On the basis of an ecological interpretation associated with historical documents and pottery analyses, it has been possible to classify the sites as pertaining to the indigenous population bearing the Tupiguarani Tradition which inhabitted this region prior to the arrival of the European colonization, and which reproduced there their patterns of settlement and exploration of environmental resources.
