Resumen

In the present article we analyze the formal variability of the Xikrin’s arrows at the MAE/USP collection in order to identify the existence of a specific way of doing arrows of this group and which attributes are essential to define each type of arrow. By classifying the arrows according to Frickel’s description (1968) we also sought to investigate the relation between the point’s form and raw material and the arrows’ function. At last we present some hypothesis to think about the variability of lithic projectile points founded in the archaeological context and the necessity of reviewing the present classificatory framework employed in Brazil for this kind of artifact.
