Abstract

A (retired) philosophy lecturer, honouring a colleague, also retired, reflects on the philosophy-school articulation, based on an analysis of the teaching of philosophy at the Faculty of Letters of Lisbon, namely between 1957-2000. In conclusion, he points to the permanence of the legacy of Greek philosophy in the disciplinary architecture of the Western school, in the science/philosophy challenge, the resilience of which is responsible for energising/overcoming the culture that has dominated the Western school - a laboratory of reductive scientific and technical rationality.
