Abstract

This article presents the language of the past, in the context of Michael Dummett's anti-realism. In the end, briefly, the role of counterfactual conditionals is emphasized.

Author Biography

  • Nelson Gonçalves Gomes, Universidade de Brasília

    Professor of Philosophy at the University of Brasília (1976-2013). Collaborating Professor of the Graduate Program in Philosophy at UnB since 2015. PhD from the University of Munich (1975). He was a professor at the Catholic Faculty of Philosophy of Santos (1967-69) and at the University of São Paulo (Ribeirão Preto, 1991-92). He carried out postdoctoral projects in Munich, London, Oxford and Jerusalem. Areas of specialization: (1) logic, (2) analytical philosophy (neopositivism) and (3) metaethics (with emphasis on the relationship between logic and moral discourse).
