Abstract

Skepticism appears on the international political and social scene in the form of a growing disbelief, among citizens, about the political system - notably regarding democracy itself - the way of governing and the relations between States. In Europe, such skepticism reaches the very heart of European construction and the fluctuations in public opinion, as captured by the Eurobarometer, point to the risks of such instability.
