Abstract

Pandiá Calógeras, a name now relatively forgotten, belonged to the generation that tried to build the Brazilian Republic. His political ideas threw him into the tumult of partisan clashes with victories and failures. Engineer, faced great national challenges, in which his dynamism of executor distinguished him, occupying ministerial positions of importance. Despite his pragmatism, he was adept at planning to find good solutions. He was also a diplomat and writer, enjoying great popularity in his time. In this article we intend to show how Calógeras had a comprehensive view of energy sources and how he thought the country should develop them.
