Abstract

The review presents the analyzes projected by the Spanish sociologist Manuel Castells in his most recent work, Rupture: crisis of liberal democracy (2018). In this book, Castells elaborates a general overview of recent political events, such as Brexit, the American election that led Donald Trump to power, as well as the conservative liberal movement originating from the dissolution of confidence in political institutions, the worsening of the global economic crisis , unemployment on the march and end of the protagonism of traditional political parties in the United States, Europe and Latin American countries
