The Earth’s climate is changing at an unprecedented rate with unknown consequences for the fauna, so that new approaches of comparative studies are needed to supplement the understanding of the possible effects of climate change caused by Human being. The challenge goes beyond the theories that can be made from the comparative study of different populations and species living in different environments. The macrophysiology, which studies and compares the physiological variation along marked geographical gradients (eg, biomes), aims to complement the class of comparative studies already established in the literature. The initial focus is to understand the extent to which evolution in specific biomes limits or modulates large physiological variation patterns.Downloads
