Abstract

Modern Hebrew as it is spoken in our days, has a peculiar history. This article is about the path of this idiom from ancient times until today. Jewish people for a long period had been out of his land and his language – Hebrew stoped to be used as their every day language. Hebrew was used only for religious, literary or commercial purposes. When Jews returned to their land, Hebrew reappeared, in special conditions, as the official language of the State of Israel. This language is based on the biblical Hebrew and it contains also the language of later periods, besides renewal and updantig made by by the Hebrew Language Academy.
