The main criterion for structuring grassroots basketball is through chronological age, which aims to equalize competitions and offer equal levels of sports development, however, this organization is biased due to the large chronological age difference between players belonging to the same age category. Thus, the objective of the study was to analyze whether the amplitude of the age difference between the players can influence the application of the load and the measures of training volume of young basketball players. For this, the Relative Age Effect was determined through the date of birth, the internal training load through the Subjective Perception of Effort as well as training volume. To determine the clinical relevance of the study objective, statistics from measures of central tendency were used and univariate trait tests. The main findings of the study were the significant differences in the training load according to the period of birth and the presence of the Relative Age Effect in the group of players analyzed. With this, it is concluded that the period of birth can influence in a biased way in the dosages of the application of training loads of basketball players of the initial base categories.
