O X que sustenta uma plataforma: Relações e cruzamentos do poema “Bahia de todos os santos e de quase todos os pecados” com o Manifesto regionalista e com Casa grande e senzala de Gilberto Freyre

Abstract

The essay is divided in three parts: the first inquires the poem “Bahia of all saints and nearly all sinners” (1926) listing the main themes that were to appear in two of Gilberto Freyre’s posterior books, the Regionalist Manifesto (1952) and Casa Grande e Senzala (1933); the second considers the Manifesto’s main themes; and the third briefly describes the themes present on Freyre’s most famous book. The essay’s main goal is to compare the three different works so as to identify common patterns that concur in the formation of Freyre’s image of Brazil, so as to show how they contribute to the creation of a new tradition of Brazilian studies.
