Abstract

The first objective of this paper is to characterize the technology parks that are in operation in the Northeast region as a habitat for innovation that will generate new knowledge that could be transformed into new products and processes. The second objective is to identify the return or the degree of success achieved by the actions which are understood to be essential to economy knowledge development. The article is substantiated due to the utilization of case reports characterized by descriptive and exploratory research which was empirically illustrated from five case studies. The case studies were ones through which we could identify technology parks that have characteristics of a habitat for innovation aimed to spread a new entrepreneurial and innovative culture in the region as well as supports the creation of technology based enterprises through the acquisition of knowledge and technologies generated in the R&D internal and the inclusion of products, services, and marketing processes that contribute to the economic development of the region to which it is inserted.
