KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT APPLIED TO PROCESS MANAGEMENT: IDENTIFICATION OF THE FUNCTIONALITIES REQUIRED FOR SOLUTIONS IN THE BUSINESS PROCESS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (BPMS)
Abstract
Considering the importance of knowledge management practices for the development of business processes, this paper identifies the desired functionalities for process management solutions (BPMS) which can increase the potential to support the exchange of images and ideas in the four areas, where, according to Nonaka, the generation of knowledge takes place. Beginning with the analysis of the participants, the particular moments and the conditions necessary for the generation of knowledge, eight highly important functionalities were defined for BPMS solutions. These should be considered in the specification, project and choice of solutions. These eight functionalities are distributed between the four areas of the Nonaka model: internalization, socialization, externalization and combination of knowledge. If these requirements are not followed, this may imply a reduced potential for solutions in the continuous improvement of the business process, thereby endangering the achievement of excellence in organizational business processes.Downloads
