Abstract

On 2015, Brazil and Chile executed the Cooperation and Investment Facilitation Agreement (“CIFA”) and the United Nations presented the Sustainable Development Goals (“SDG”), which is a real plan of action for the sustainable development. Acknowledging the relevance of the private investment for the promotion of the sustainable development, this article aims to analyze the CIFA in light of the ODS, in order to investigate whether the CIFA may contribute to achieve them. In the end, we will conclude that the CIFA, which translates the Brazilian proposal for the new generation of international investment agreements, may indeed contribute to their achievement.
