Peer Review Process

The magazine uses the process of “peer evaluation”, and submissions are initially evaluated by the magazine editorial committee in order to check if the writing structure follows the Author Guidelines and Review Guidelines. If there are mistakes in the normatization of the articles, the reviewer will contact the authors and request necessary corrections. Once fulfilled the requirements, the writings will be forwarded to the analysis of two appraisers who will give final opinions following the items bellow:

() Should be published with priority. It is not necessary to review

() Should be published. It is not necessary to review

() Should be published, but needs to be revised

() Should not be published

If the two appraisers mark one of the first two options, the item is added to the list of approved papers ready for publication and author receives an email informing that his/her article was approved for publication in the Magazine. When one of the appraisers marks the third option, the author receives an e-mail from the Magazine with feedback attached to it, which contains the necessary revisions for the article to be published. The feedbacks are sent to the authors without providing the names of appraisers. Once the author meets the demands presented in the feedback, the article is again referred to the appraiser to make sure that the changes made in the article are sufficient for approval. In cases when both appraisers indicate that the article should not be published, the author receives an email stating that the article was not accepted for publication. When the two appraisers have conflicting opinions – one approving it and the other contra-indicating its publication –, a third appraiser is required to evaluate. In this case, the article will be considered approved for publication when two of the three appraisers consider that the article should be published. Similarly, the article will be considered contra-indicated for publication when two of the three appraisers consider that the article should not be published in the Magazine.

In cases where the feedback from the appraisers recommend the non publishing of the paper, the author is guaranteed the right to appeal from the negative decision through a reconsideration request based on the discussion of the objections raised by the appraisers.
