Abstract

Review of the catalogue The Living Archive of Sérvulo Esmeraldo, about the exhibition of the same title held at the IAC between May and December 2014. Curated by Ricardo Resende, the show presented works from Sérvulo Esmeraldo's collection, emphasizing his production in Paris between the 1950s and 1970s. It also displayed works stored for about 40 years in the studio of Júlio Le Parc, in Paris. The catalogue, with an introductory text by Raquel Arnaud, comments on the significance and the difference between Esmeraldo's artistic production and contemporary mercantilist practices. The graphic design of the catalogue indicates the artist's creative process through detailed photographic documentation.
