Abstract

Murilo Mendes' works pose a recurrent question that calls for reflection: the presence of the personal and cultural memories, which are literarily  transfigured and give support to the greatest part of his creative work. However, they reveral different tones and perspectives, according to the moment and to the experiences lived by the writer. In this sense, two works mark a mnemonic game linked to artistic an cultural traces, Tempo espanhol and Espaço espanhol [Spanish Time and Spanish Space]. Ten years separate them, but both complement each other in the search for the same object: Spain. In the paper, the poems in Tempo espanhol and their dialogue with literature and other arts receive a privileged treatment with the intention of investigating the re-elaborations made by the Brazilian author.
